The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is sponsoring its first cowboy poetry contest. The event will actually be located at the community building behind the Duncan Public Library, 2211 US Highway 81. It is open to all contestants and ages. Original work is not required, as judging will be based on performance, theme/structure and writing. Prizes for adults are Champion, belt buckled and $100 gift certificate to Crutcher's Western Wear; 2nd and 3rd places: belt buckles and $50 gift certificate to Crutcher's Western Wear; with trophies presented to fourth, fifth and sixth places. Performance can be read or recited, and must be cowboy poetry - anything family friendly about the cowboy way of life.
