Chisholm Trail Arts Council presents Live From the Center
Feb 6, 2010
Eden Brent
Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010
7:00 PM
Rollicking, swinging, soulful, rocking, contemplative, torchy and jazzy. Can all those traits be captured in one diminutive redhead from the birthplace of Mississippi blues? Sure it can, as Eden Brent proves night after night, concert after concert and on the 2008 album, “Mississippi Number One.” Critics laud the singer/songwriter’s attitude as “Bessie Smith meets Diana Krall meets Janis Joplin,” and they wax poetic over her “whiskey-smoke” voice. Eden learned her boogie-woogie piano chops from blues pioneer Boogaloo Ames, who dubbed the ball of energy “Little Boogaloo.”
